Privacy Policy

The short version: NTROPX runs on your own computer, and your financial data — statements, transactions, balances — stays there. It is never uploaded to us. The only things that ever leave your device are your email address (to sign you in), masked transaction text used to categorize spending, and your payment details (handled by Stripe).
What stays on your device
NTROPX is a local-first app. The following live only in a database on your computer and are never sent to us or stored on our servers:
- The statement files you import (CSV, PDF, Excel, OFX/QFX)
- Your transactions, balances, accounts, assets, and liabilities
- Account names and numbers
- Every report, budget, and net-worth figure the app produces

Before any transaction data is sent for AI categorization, it is stripped and pseudonymized: account numbers and balances are removed, and account, asset, and loan names are replaced with neutral placeholders. The AI provider never receives your identity, your account numbers, or your balances.
What we do not do
- We do not ask for or store your bank login credentials. There is no account linking.
- We do not upload your statements or your ledger to our servers.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with advertisers or data brokers.
- We do not use your financial data to train AI models.
Service providers we use
- Supabase — stores your account (email) and subscription status. No financial data.
- Anthropic — provides the AI model; receives only masked, pseudonymized text.
- Stripe — processes subscription payments.
- Render — hosts our relay and this website.
Data retention and deletion
Because your financial data lives on your computer, you control it: delete it in the app, or remove the app's data folder, at any time. To delete your account (email and subscription record), email us and we'll remove it.
Security
Sign-in tokens are stored in your operating system's secure credential store. Data in transit is encrypted (HTTPS). The powerful keys that run the AI and billing never ship inside the app — they live only on our server. For data at rest on your machine, we recommend enabling full-disk encryption (FileVault on macOS, BitLocker on Windows); the app will remind you if it's off.
Children
NTROPX is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "last updated" date.
